HollandSchermen

HollandSchermen is a Dutch fencing club founded in 2010 for participants of fencing in all age groups and levels of ambition. The core activity is talent development in fencing which involves lessons to beginners (from about 7 years old) to athletes that participate at the world championships between 16 and 25 years old. On a secondary level the club promotes recreational ambition in fencing, stage fight and Paralympic fencing.

The club has about 150 members in total in 2 locations. The main club location is Alkmaar and an annex in Haarlem. The club has three trainers and two assistants.
The club is recently founded but involves trainers that have more than 20 years of experience with lessons to all age groups and especially with children and teenagers of both sexes.
HollandSchermen is affiliated to the KNAS, the Duch Fencing Federation and cooperates with local and national stakeholders on the organization of sport events.
Specifically, it has organized several camps for athletes and workshops with trainers on teaching fencing. The coaches and staff of the club visited several clubs in Italy and France to exchange information on didactics and learn through experience.
HollandSchermen will host the Dutch national fencing championships for youth from 2019 until 2021, as done in 2012. Every season are organized individual tournaments in all weapons and a team event.
In May 2018 HollandSchermen hostes the European Team Championships Fencing for Veterans The Association is inspired by the ethic principles of correctness and respect of rules and of adversary.
Thanks to the involvement of sport psycologist, HollandSchermen coordinates in F.I.R.S.T. Foil the exchange of best practices related to the teaching methodologies that better develop soft skills of teen-agers.
